Preventative & Restorative Care

Giving Health Back To Your Teeth

Routine Cleanings

Dental treatment should generally take place every six months to help remove the plaque and tartar from your teeth. Tartar is a crusty deposit that can cause discoloration and trap stains in the enamel of the teeth. Tartar creates bond with your teeth that is difficult to remove by brushing and flossing alone. It should be removed by only a dental professional.

Routine cleanings are a necessary part of preventative care. It involves diagnosis, prevention, and treatment of oral diseases.

During the cleaning Dr. Lee will diagnose your oral health condition using visual, mechanical, and radiographich techniques to analyze your teeth as well as your gum line to make sure your mouth stays in a healthy state for years to come.

Fillings

Fillings and restoring the surface of your teeth, or replacing missing teeth, is vital to keeping your dental health happy.

If you have any cavities we can help. Irvine Dentistry fillings feel like your teeth, and look like your teeth. We use composite (white fillings) as the filler because it can be accurately and easily molded into the cavity to help prevent further decay of the tooth.

For most people a filling is all they will need if they have a cavity, however if you give that cavity more time it can grow much larger and a simple filling won’t help anymore

Veneers

Veneers are a good option if you would like to change the color or shape of your teeth. It is also an ideal option for a tooth with a larger cavity but is still structurally sound. Veneers often strengthen the tooth as well as provide a very natural looking finish to the tooth’s surface. Veneers can also be stained to match the surrounding teeth that way it won’t look out of place.

If veneers are needed it will only take two visits for the procedure, the initial visit to prepare the tooth and the second visit to attach the veneer to the tooth. The restoration to the tooth will last for years so you wont have to worry about returning because the veneer came loose.

Crowns

Crowns are a dental procedure done when you have a very large portion  of your tooth either chipped, cracked, or eaten away. Crowns work by removing the broken and unstable portion of your tooth and shaping the sturdy portion into a usable base. The shaped base is then fully encased by a dental crown which fully restores a tooth’s shape, size, and strength. Once it is permanently bonded in place, only a Dentist can remove it.

Dr. Lee may prescribe a crown to:

– Restore and protect a tooth that is worn, decayed, cracked, or broken.

– Protect and support a tooth after a root canal or replacement of a large filling.

– Cover a dental implant.

– Improve your smile by covering a misshapen tooth.
